The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Ajibola Basiru, has said Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke is prepared to campaign for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Basiru made the disclosure on Sunday after paying a courtesy visit to Adeleke at the Osun State Government House in Osogbo.
According to the APC National Secretary, the governor had during a closed-door meeting not only endorsed Tinubu for another term but also expressed his willingness to actively campaign for the President across the state.
Basiru said the development could strengthen cooperation between political interests in Osun and improve Tinubu’s chances of securing a strong showing in the state.
He also projected that a collaboration between the APC and Accord could deliver as many as 1.5 million votes for Tinubu during the presidential election.
Basiru said the APC performed creditably in the recent Osun governorship election despite losing the poll, noting that the party secured about 46 per cent of the votes.
He argued that combining the voting strength of the APC and Accord, alongside effective mobilisation ahead of the presidential poll, could significantly increase Tinubu’s support base in the state.
The APC secretary also appealed for political unity following the governorship election, urging party members and residents to put the contest behind them and focus on the development of Osun.
He particularly called for an end to lingering tensions involving the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), urging stakeholders to resolve their leadership differences peacefully.
Basiru further appealed to APC members to close ranks and work collectively toward the President’s re-election, while encouraging residents to maintain peace across the state.
