Ademola Adeleke has reaffirmed his commitment to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, declaring that Osun State will support the President in the 2027 election.
Adeleke made the declaration on Sunday while receiving the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ajibola Basiru, who paid him a visit.
The governor described Tinubu as his “dear father” and stressed that his pledge to deliver Osun’s votes to the President was not a political statement made for convenience.
According to Adeleke, he was raised to honour commitments and would not promise what he had no intention of delivering.
> “I don’t make empty promises. When I said we will deliver Osun State votes to our dear father, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I mean it 100 per cent.”
He said integrity should remain central to political engagements, urging politicians across party lines in Osun to put aside their differences and work together in the interest of the state and the President.
Adeleke also linked his approach to politics to the values instilled in him by his late father, whom he described as a diplomat and labour union politician.
He recalled that the same principle guided his involvement in the political negotiations that preceded the emergence of Godswill Akpabio as Senate President and Tajudeen Abbas as Speaker of the House of Representatives.
The Osun governor said he had assured Tinubu at the time that lawmakers from the state would support the President’s preferred candidates and subsequently worked to secure their backing.
Adeleke maintained that the episode demonstrated the importance of keeping political commitments, adding that he does not “play games” or make promises he does not intend to fulfil.
He therefore appealed to Osun residents and political actors to focus less on their differences and more on issues capable of advancing the state’s development.
The governor’s declaration comes as political alignments and negotiations ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to generate discussions across the country.
