Police operatives in Rivers State have reportedly rescued a woman who was allegedly kidnapped in the Alode area of Eleme Local Government Area.
The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday night when the suspected kidnappers were said to be transporting the victim in a tricycle, popularly known as keke.
According to reports, the suspects encountered the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Eleme Division, Ogale, alongside some Customs officers while travelling along the road.
The security personnel reportedly engaged the suspects, forcing them to abandon the tricycle and flee into a nearby bush, leaving the woman inside the vehicle.
The DPO and other security personnel reportedly pursued the fleeing suspects, with the chase extending towards Ovigbo Road.
The suspects were subsequently apprehended, while the kidnapped woman was rescued from the abandoned tricycle.
The swift intervention by the security personnel has been commended, particularly the response of the Eleme Division DPO, which reportedly led to the rescue of the victim and the arrest of the suspects.
