Presidential candidate of the New Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has thrown his weight behind the presidential ambition of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, describing him as qualified to become Nigeria’s president.
Obi made the declaration while speaking at the inauguration of the presidential campaign of Makinde, who is contesting under the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
Addressing supporters at the event, Obi described Makinde as his “dear brother” and expressed confidence in his capacity to seek the country’s highest political office.
“We have a candidate who is contesting for president, my dear brother Makinde. Is he qualified to be president? Yes, he is qualified,” Obi said.
The endorsement comes as political activities ahead of the 2027 presidential election intensify, with various candidates and political parties stepping up campaigns and seeking support across the country.
Makinde, a two-term governor of Oyo State, has continued to feature prominently in political discussions surrounding the 2027 presidential contest.
