More than 200 heavily armed bandits reportedly attacked Chaco village in Raba Local Government Area of Sokoto State, where they allegedly slaughtered a mother and her son, killed 10 people, and abducted more than 40 others.

A source told our correspondent that the bandits carried out the attack under the cover of darkness on Sunday night. They first attacked a filling station on the outskirts of Gandi before proceeding to Tofa village.

According to the source, the bandits arrived in the village, where they reportedly killed 10 people and abducted more than 40 others.

The source added that while the bandits were returning from the attack, they encountered a mother and her son in Chaco village and allegedly slaughtered them.

The source expressed concern over the way bandits have continued to operate freely in the Raba area without adequate intervention from the authorities.

The source called on the government and security agencies to take urgent action to end the activities of bandits in Raba and other parts of Sokoto State.
