Isaac Fayose, a political commentator and brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, has criticised Datti Baba-Ahmed, former running mate to Peter Obi in the 2023 presidential election, over his reported position on Obi’s political direction.
Fayose accused Datti of being unhappy with Obi’s decision not to retain him as his running mate, describing the former vice-presidential candidate as a political failure.
He claimed Datti had advised Obi against joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC), allegedly out of concern that the party might not choose Obi as its presidential candidate again.
Fayose also expressed support for a potential Peter Obi-Rabiu Kwankwaso ticket, arguing that Kwankwaso has stronger political influence and wider acceptance in Northern Nigeria.
According to Fayose, continued criticism of Obi could instead strengthen the former Anambra State governor’s popularity among Nigerians.
He further alleged that Datti could eventually defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), claiming that political interests may be behind his criticisms of Obi.
