Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has launched a fresh effort to heal internal divisions within the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Buni inaugurated three reconciliation committees covering Yobe East, Yobe South and Yobe North senatorial districts, with a mandate to resolve grievances arising from recent party congresses and primary elections.
The committees are expected to reach out to aggrieved and inactive party members, encourage dialogue and rebuild trust among members ahead of the next election cycle.
Represented by his deputy, Idi Barde Gubana, the governor urged members of the committees to put the interests of the APC above personal ambitions and ensure that their reconciliation efforts are fair and confidential.
He said strengthening unity within the party was essential to expanding its grassroots support and improving its chances of securing victory across Yobe in 2027.
The committees have also been directed to identify outstanding disputes within their respective senatorial districts and recommend measures for sustaining peace and cohesion within the party.
Buni gave the committees two weeks to submit their political harmonisation report to the APC State Working Committee.
The governor expressed confidence that the reconciliation process would help bring estranged members back into the party and strengthen its grassroots structure ahead of the 2027 elections.
The move signals an early attempt by the Yobe APC leadership to address internal grievances and consolidate the party’s political machinery before campaigns for the 2027 elections intensify.
