Dangote Refinery Raises Petrol Price Again, Records N185 Increase in 22 Days

Dangote Refinery

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has increased the price of petrol sold to bulk buyers at its gantry to N1,350 per litre, marking the facility’s latest price adjustment in less than a month.

The new price represents an N85 increase from the previous N1,265 per litre and took effect on September 12, 2026, according to a circular issued by the refinery’s Group Commercial Operations.

The latest adjustment means the refinery’s gantry price has risen by N185 per litre since August 21, when it stood at N1,165.

Within the period, the price was increased to N1,185 on August 21, N1,200 on August 26 and N1,265 on August 29 before the latest increase to N1,350.

The refinery also raised its coastal petrol price from N1,669,545 to N1,783,530 per metric tonne.

The development could further reshape pricing across Nigeria’s downstream petroleum market, as marketers and other bulk purchasers are expected to factor the higher refinery price into their operating costs.

Dangote Refinery directed customers to return existing Authority to Collect documents for repricing and said new volume contracts would be issued to enable loading to resume.

The latest increase comes amid elevated international crude oil prices and continued uncertainty in global oil supply. Brent crude has recently traded above $100 per barrel, with disruptions and geopolitical tensions affecting crude supply routes.

With Nigeria’s downstream market operating under deregulated pricing, changes in crude oil prices and other market costs can influence the prices at which refined petroleum products are sold domestically.

The latest adjustment is therefore expected to draw fresh attention from fuel marketers, transport operators and consumers, particularly if higher bulk acquisition costs are eventually reflected in retail pump prices across the country.
