Archbishop Kawas Defends Tinubu Endorsement, Says Obi Never Paid Him During Campaigns

Archbishop Kawas

Archbishop Kawas has defended his decision to support President Bola Tinubu, dismissing criticisms questioning his credibility after endorsing the president.

Kawas, while reacting to allegations surrounding his political endorsements, recalled his previous support for Peter Obi during the 2023 presidential campaign.

He said Obi never asked how much he spent on accommodation during his campaign travels and did not financially support him for his efforts.

«“Peter Obi never for one day asked me how much I was paying for the hotel whenever I travelled to campaign for him. He never gave me one Naira or dollar when I supported him, and nobody called me a fake bishop then,” Kawas said.»

The cleric questioned why his decision to support Tinubu had suddenly led some people to describe him as a “fake bishop.”

“Now that God led me to campaign for Tinubu, I have become fake?” he asked.
