A Nigerian woman has shared an emotional account of how her eight-month relationship with a Germany-based Nigerian man allegedly ended in blackmail after she reportedly transferred N7 million to him.
According to the woman, the relationship began after the man contacted her through Instagram. She said they grew close, communicated constantly and eventually began an intimate relationship.
She explained that she trusted him because he made her feel comfortable during a period when she was recovering from a previous relationship.
However, she alleged that she later discovered that several details the man had shared about himself were false.
The woman claimed that she had been saving money since her 200-level days through her hair business, hoping to purchase a car. According to her, she had saved about N19 million before giving the man N7 million.
She alleged that the man subsequently demanded another N12 million from her, threatening to release her private content online if she failed to pay.
The woman said she eventually paid someone to help trace the man’s location, after which she allegedly discovered that the information he had provided about himself was false.
Speaking emotionally about the experience, she warned others to exercise caution when forming romantic relationships with people they meet online.
“I never knew this thing could happen to me. I was just in love,” she said.
The allegations have not been independently verified, and the identity of the man involved has not been publicly confirmed.
