Businessman and political commentator Isaac Fayose has alleged that five governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are secretly supporting the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Fayose made the allegation in a video, claiming that the governors would not publicly campaign for the NDC or make statements that could openly favour the opposition party because they remain members of the APC.
According to him, the governors allegedly want to prevent Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, from delivering the FCT and Rivers State for the APC.
Fayose further claimed that the unnamed governors had offered to support polling agents in Rivers State and the FCT financially, allegedly proposing ₦200,000 per polling unit for agents who would stand against what he described as electoral rigging.
> “They are offering all our polling agents in Rivers State and FCT, they are offering you two hundred thousand per polling unit if you can stand together against rigging,” Fayose said.
He also alleged that there were plans to manipulate election results in the two areas, claiming that the alleged sponsors wanted polling agents to prevent such attempts.
Fayose said the governors did not want their identities made public because they are still members of the APC, but claimed they were opposed to Wike securing the FCT and Rivers State for the ruling party.
He added that he personally told the governors that he did not want President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to return to office, although, according to him, the governors maintained that their primary concern was stopping Wike from winning the two locations for the APC.
The allegations, including the identities of the five governors and the purported ₦200,000-per-polling-unit offer, have not been independently verified.
