A resident in Umunze, Orumba South LGA, Anambra State has raised serious concerns over the quality of a newly asphalted road after demonstrating that sections of the asphalt at the edge could reportedly be peeled away by hand.
What makes the situation more concerning is that the road appears to have reached an advanced/completed stage, with road markings already applied.

From the footage, the edge of the pavement appears to have lost support underneath it, leaving portions of the asphalt overhanging an eroded or inadequately supported shoulder. This can make the asphalt edge crack and break away very easily.
Drainage and erosion control are particularly important in this area. In June 2025, the Anambra State Government approved a ₦3.5 billion erosion reclamation, flood-control and road construction project covering 2.28km in Umunze and Umuchu, highlighting the known erosion challenges around the axis.
