An Edo State High Court in Benin City has sentenced four persons to death by hanging after finding them guilty of kidnapping and membership of a secret cult.
The court, dedicated to the trial of cases involving kidnapping, cultism and other violent crimes, delivered the judgment on Tuesday after more than three hours of proceedings.
Justice T. A. Momodu handed down the verdict on the 11-count charge brought against the defendants.
Those sentenced to death are Marvelous Isaac, 32; Wisdom Michael, 36; Rufus Michael, 30; and Gift Raphael, 27.
The court’s decision followed its consideration of the evidence and arguments presented in the case.
