The Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate for the 2027 election, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has warned that Nigerians could face severe economic hardship if President Bola Tinubu secures a second term in office.
Adebayo issued the warning during the launch of his manifesto.
According to him, allowing Tinubu to remain in office for another four years would lead to four major consequences, including a possible increase in petrol prices to ₦5,000 per litre.
Tinubu, if you allow him not just four more years, you allow him in just one more year, four things are going to happen. You will buy fuel petrol at 5,000 naira per liter because I predicted four years ago that you will buy it at 2,000 per liter and it’s getting there,” he said.
Adebayo also predicted that Nigerians could become “emergency millionaires,” saying people might need as much as ₦1 million to afford a loaf of bread.
He further warned that the economy could reach a point where honest work would no longer provide enough purchasing power, regardless of whether someone is a plumber, mechanic, trader or businessman.
The SDP candidate also alleged that Tinubu could hand over power to a successor who would be worse than him, saying Nigerians could eventually complain that, “Tinubu killed us but this one wants to assassinate us.”
