Shock in Bauchi as Former APC Women Leader Is Found Dead in Her Home

The Bauchi State Police Command has launched a homicide investigation into the death of Jemimah Dutse, a former All Progressives Congress Women Leader in Bauchi South.

Dutse was reportedly found dead inside her residence at Muazu New Layout, Yelwa, Bauchi, on October 3, 2026, with injuries suggesting that she had been attacked by unknown assailants.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Habib, a 49-year-old resident alerted the police after the deceased was discovered in a pool of blood, with her throat allegedly slit.

Following the report, detectives from the ‘E’ Division visited the residence, documented the scene and evacuated Dutse’s remains to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital for medical examination and autopsy.

The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, subsequently ordered the transfer of the case to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department for a detailed investigation.

The police said the investigation is aimed at determining what led to the killing, identifying the perpetrators and ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice.

The command also expressed condolences to Dutse’s family, friends and political associates, assuring members of the public that investigators would pursue every lead in the case.

The police said further information would be released as the investigation progresses.
