A viral video trending on social media has captured former Niger Delta militant leader Asari Dokubo making controversial claims about government-funded pipeline contracts in the Niger Delta.
In the video, Dokubo defended ex-militant leader Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, amid criticism over his pipeline surveillance contract with the Federal Government.
Dokubo argued that Tompolo should not be singled out, alleging that other individuals and groups are also benefiting from government contracts linked to pipeline infrastructure and protection.
He specifically claimed that the Olu of Warri and Osahon Idahosa receive about N2.73 trillion annually from the Federal Government for pipeline-related activities.
“You are talking about Tompolo. What of the Olu of Warri, Osahon, the son of Captain Osa, that are collecting N2.73 trillion every year for guiding pipeline? Why did you call them out?” Dokubo said in the video.

He questioned why critics allegedly focus on Tompolo while ignoring other beneficiaries.
Dokubo also stated that he has no involvement in the pipeline contract, saying other people from different regions should also be allowed to benefit from such government contracts.
“I’m not in that contract. So other people from other regions should come and take the contract,” he said.
The former militant leader further claimed that businessman Arthur Eze previously held the contract and alleged that he recently saw vessels bearing the initials “AUK,” which he associated with former Abia State Governor Orji Uzor Kalu, operating in Niger Delta waters.
Dokubo’s claims have generated reactions online, with social media users debating the allegations and the wider issue of pipeline surveillance contracts in the oil-producing region.
However, the claim that the Olu of Warri and Osahon Idahosa receive N2.73 trillion annually, as well as the other allegations made in the viral video, could not be independently verified from the video alone.
