Plateau Attack: Gunmen Open Fire On Traders, One Killed, Seven Injured

Gunmen have attacked a vehicle carrying traders returning from the Kara Bukuru Livestock Market in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, killing one person and injuring seven others. The attack occurred on Sunday along the Bukuru Expressway.

The Plateau State Police Command confirmed the shooting, saying the vehicle was targeted at about 4:30 p.m. on October 4. The seven injured victims were traced to the Military Clinic at Rukuba Barracks in Jos, where they were receiving medical treatment.

Vanguard identified the deceased as Musa Abubakar, while the Plateau chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) confirmed and condemned the attack. The identity and motive of the attackers have not been established.

Police Commissioner Ayodeji Faniyan has directed investigators to take over the case and ensure those responsible are arrested. Tactical and anti-robbery teams have also been deployed around the area as intelligence gathering continues, while authorities urged residents to remain vigilant.
