The Anambra State Police Command has ordered the immediate issuance of queries to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the 3-3 Police Station and a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) following allegations surrounding the whereabouts of an armed robbery suspect reportedly arrested and brought to the station.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, also directed the immediate commencement of disciplinary proceedings against an Inspector of Police in connection with the matter.

The directives were issued on October 5, 2026, after the Commissioner personally interviewed the complainant and police officers involved following the circulation of a viral video alleging that an armed robbery suspect arrested and brought to the station could no longer be accounted for.

CP Ama described the allegation as serious, stressing that such incidents could undermine public confidence in the police. He said the Command would not tolerate unprofessional conduct, dereliction of duty, abuse of office or any compromise of established police procedures.

The Commissioner consequently directed the Command’s X-Squad to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest, detention, documentation and subsequent whereabouts.

The investigation will also examine the actions and responsibilities of all officers involved in the matter.

CP Ama further disclosed that necessary operational measures had been put in place to facilitate the arrest of the suspect, while assuring members of the public that the Command would communicate the outcome of the investigation once the facts had been established.

He also cautioned members of the public against circulating unverified information capable of prejudicing the ongoing investigation, urging that the matter be allowed to go through due process.

The Commissioner reiterated that accountability remains a core component of his leadership philosophy, noting that no police officer is above scrutiny or the established disciplinary process.

The statement was signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, on October 6, 2026.
