2027: I Think About Tinubu’s Re-Election When I Sleep, Eat — Wike

Wike

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 occupies his thoughts, stressing that he is committed to helping the president secure a second term.

Wike spoke on Monday during town hall meetings with the Rumueme and Apara kingdoms in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The former Rivers State governor urged residents to vote massively for Tinubu, saying the president would have an easier path to victory than he did in 2023.

“Each day I sleep, I am thinking about the president’s re-election. When I am eating, I think about the president’s re-election. Everything I am doing now is about the president’s re-election,” Wike said.

He urged Rivers residents to put sentiments aside and support Tinubu, arguing that the president had recognised the people of the state through what he described as dividends of democracy and several appointments.

“Let us forget sentiment and vote for the person who has recognised the people of Rivers State with dividends of democracy and with several appointments.

“I know the re-election of Tinubu in 2027 will be easier than that of 2023. We should appreciate Tinubu and ensure he gets a massive number of votes. We can do it.”

Wike also said Tinubu had brought developments to Rivers State and appointed Rivers indigenes to key positions in his administration.

The FCT minister criticised former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, and Rotimi Amaechi, his running mate, accusing them of deceiving Nigerians. He questioned their credibility to challenge Tinubu and claimed the ADC would not secure the required 25 percent of votes in Rivers State.

Wike also criticised Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Party (NDC), describing him and other opposition candidates as “unelectable politicians.”

He urged his supporters and political allies not to allow internal disputes and communal disagreements to distract them.
