Businessman and social commentator Isaac Fayose has sparked controversy with comments criticising Igbo people who support the All Progressives Congress government while expressing strong backing for Peter Obi.
In a statement circulating on social media, Fayose described Igbo supporters of the APC government in highly critical terms, arguing that they should instead support Obi.
Fayose also claimed that no Igbo politician in the last 30 to 40 years had achieved what Peter Obi achieved, with the exception of the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.
“Any Igbo man supporting this government is a wicked Igbo man,” Fayose said.
He further criticised wealthy Igbo individuals whom he alleged failed to support Obi politically and financially, while also making claims about political restrictions allegedly placed on Obi during previous campaigns.
According to Fayose, Obi’s political support would remain strong regardless of whether certain individuals or groups backed his ambition.
“With or without you, Obi will win. With or without your money, Peter Obi will win,” he declared.
Fayose has previously publicly expressed support for Obi. In July 2026, he described Obi as Nigeria’s “incoming president” after the former Anambra State governor visited his residence.
