
The Oyo State Police Command has launched a rescue operation following the abduction of three staff members of the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN) in Ibadan.
The victims were reportedly kidnapped while inspecting crops on a farm located within the institute’s premises.
The incident was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State, Olayinka Ayanlade, who said the command had commenced efforts to rescue the abducted workers and arrest those responsible.
According to the police, intensive operations began immediately after the incident was reported, with security operatives working to ensure the safe return of the victims.
The command also appealed to members of the public with useful information that could assist the investigation and rescue efforts to come forward.
The latest abduction has raised concerns over the safety of workers carrying out agricultural research and other activities within institutional premises in the state.
The police have reiterated their commitment to securing the victims’ release and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
