The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, has called on members of the party’s Presidential Campaign Council to intensify grassroots mobilisation and secure victory for its presidential ticket in the 2027 general elections.

Mark gave the directive on Friday in Abuja during the inauguration of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, urging members to work collectively to convince Nigerians that the party offers a credible alternative to the current political leadership.

He said the country was at a critical point and needed leaders capable of addressing the economic and social challenges confronting citizens.

According to him, the ADC’s campaign must go beyond seeking electoral victory to rebuilding public confidence in governance through practical solutions to the problems affecting Nigerians.

Mark charged council members to take the party’s message to every state, local government, ward and community, stressing that no section of the country should be neglected.

He urged them to engage traditional rulers, religious leaders, youths, women, workers, farmers, traders, professionals, students and persons with disabilities, while listening to their concerns and earning their trust.

The ADC chairman said the campaign should prioritise issues such as rising living costs, poverty, insecurity, unemployment, inflation, inadequate healthcare, education and infrastructure.

“Nigerians already know their problems. We do not need to lecture them about their sufferings. We must listen to them and tell them clearly how we intend to solve the problems,” he said.

Mark described the party’s presidential ticket featuring Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi as a combination of experience, capacity and national reach, adding that the ADC would seek support across ethnic, religious and regional divides.

He also urged the presidential and vice-presidential candidates to demonstrate integrity, competence, inclusiveness and a commitment to national unity throughout the campaign.

Advising party members on how to handle political provocation, Mark encouraged them to respond to hostility with restraint rather than engage in confrontations.

He reaffirmed the ADC’s commitment to peaceful elections and electoral integrity, calling on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other relevant institutions to conduct their responsibilities impartially and transparently.

Mark maintained that every eligible Nigerian must be able to vote freely and safely, warning against violence, hate speech and political revenge.

He urged campaign council members to approach their assignment with discipline, humility, patriotism and resilience, expressing confidence in their ability to mobilise support ahead of the elections.

In his acceptance speech, the chairman of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, Kashim Ibrahim-Imam, called for unity among members and urged Nigerians to obtain their voter cards and protect their votes through peaceful means.

Ibrahim-Imam said the party’s campaign would focus on easing the burden of rising food prices, transportation costs and electricity bills, as well as improving access to education and healthcare.

He added that the ADC would promote policies designed to improve living standards as it prepares for the 2027 general elections.
