Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Crash: Traffic Builds Up to Otedola as Truck Hits Two Buses

Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Crash

A road crash involving a 40-foot truck and two passenger buses at the Berger Pedestrian Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has caused traffic congestion extending to the Otedola area.

The incident occurred on the inward Mowe section of the expressway, with the truck reportedly losing control before ramming into the two buses carrying passengers.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the incident in a post on its official X handle on Tuesday, adding that casualties had been taken to an emergency unit for medical attention.

According to the agency, the crash disrupted traffic flow, forcing congestion to build up towards Otedola as emergency responders and traffic officers moved to manage the situation.

“A 40ft truck reportedly lost control and ran into two buses loaded with passengers at Berger Pedestrian Bridge inward Mowe, with traffic extending backwards to Otedola as a result,” LASTMA stated.

The agency disclosed that personnel of the Nigeria Police Force were at the scene, while traffic management officers were working to control the situation and ease the resulting gridlock.

However, the number of people affected and the severity of the injuries sustained had not been officially confirmed as of the time of filing this report.

LASTMA said further updates would be provided on the evacuation of the damaged vehicles and recovery operations.

Motorists travelling along the affected section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway were advised to exercise caution and anticipate delays as emergency and traffic management operations continued.
