Man Shot During NDC Campaign in Enugu

The family of a 43-year-old commercial bus driver, Ifeanyi Christopher Nworie, popularly known as Agima, has called for justice following his death after he was allegedly shot in the chest during attacks on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) governorship campaign flag-off in Enugu State on Saturday.

According to a report by SaharaReporters, Nworie was returning home after dropping off passengers when he encountered a group of people running near Parklane Hospital.

The deceased reportedly stopped his Toyota bus to find out what was happening when a bullet struck him in the chest.

His elder brother, Engr. Afam Nworie, said the victim was rushed to several hospitals before he eventually underwent emergency surgery at a private hospital.

According to him, the family paid N4 million for the surgery. Although they were initially informed that the operation had been successful, Nworie died on Sunday while receiving treatment in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

The death has left the family demanding justice and calling on the relevant authorities to investigate the incident thoroughly.

The family is demanding the arrest and prosecution of the alleged shooter and anyone found to have sponsored or facilitated the attack.

They are also seeking accountability for the circumstances surrounding the killing, urging security agencies to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
