The Anambra State Police Command has foiled a suspected kidnapping attempt along the Ogbakuba–Ossomala Road following the intervention of a joint security team operating in the area.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, while security operatives were conducting ongoing operations against armed groups in the area.
According to the police, preliminary information indicated that suspected gunmen armed with AK-47 rifles blocked the road and fired sporadically, allegedly attempting to abduct unsuspecting road users.
