The Igbo-Etiti Local Government Education Authority in Enugu State has issued a query to teachers in public schools over their alleged absence from a mega-rally organised in support of Governor Peter Mbah’s second-term endorsement.
The rally, which reportedly took place on October 10, 2026, at Okpara Square, Enugu, was described by the authority as a mandatory mobilisation event for teaching staff under its jurisdiction.
In the query letter addressed to the affected teachers, the management stated that it had received information that some teachers failed to attend the event despite earlier circulars directing them to participate.
The authority described the alleged absence without official permission as an act of insubordination to constituted authority.
Consequently, the affected teachers were directed to explain in writing, within 48 hours of receiving the query, why disciplinary action should not be taken against them for failing to attend the rally.
The letter further instructed the teachers to submit their responses in triplicate through their respective school heads to the office of the Education Secretary, with copies routed to the Executive Chairman of the Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB).
The management warned that failure to respond within the stipulated period would be treated as an admission of guilt, adding that appropriate administrative sanctions could be imposed.
The query was signed by Okwoka Eucharia on behalf of the Igbo-Etiti Local Government Education Authority.
Copies of the letter were also sent to the Igbo-Etiti Local Government Coordinator of the Teacher Grassroot Movement, the Executive Chairman of ENSUBEB, the Head of Administration and head teachers.

As of the time of filing this report, it was unclear whether the affected teachers had responded to the query or whether any disciplinary measures had been taken against them.
