Journalist Sean Okinbaloye has raised concerns over the preparedness of Nigeria’s electoral process ahead of the 2027 general election, warning that election manipulation does not necessarily begin on Election Day.
Okinbaloye stated that the alleged rigging of elections often starts several months before voters head to the polls, insisting that the process could already be underway.
In a statement reflecting on the 2027 general election, the journalist urged Nigerians to speak up and take action early rather than wait until Election Day before raising concerns.
According to him, citizens who fail to pay attention to developments ahead of the election or demand accountability at the appropriate time may find it difficult to address irregularities when voting eventually takes place.
He said:
Election is usually not rigged on Election Day… the rigging of the elections began few months ago and is still much on course. If you don’t take action and speak up Now!! Forget it.
