A disturbing case of alleged child sexual abuse has been reported in Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, involving an eight-year-old girl.
According to reports, the minor was allegedly sexually assaulted while she was alone at home.
The suspect, identified as Mr Abuchi, was reportedly apprehended and handed over to the Ogidi Police Division for investigation.
The victim has also reportedly been taken for medical attention following the incident.
The development has renewed calls for stronger protection of children and strict enforcement of laws against sexual abuse in Anambra State.
Authorities have been urged to ensure a thorough investigation into the allegation, provide the victim with appropriate medical and psychological support, and prosecute the suspect if sufficient evidence is established.
The Anambra State Police Command and the Ministry of Women and Social Welfare have also been urged to ensure that the child’s welfare and safety remain a priority throughout the investigation.
Every child deserves protection and security, including within the home. Allegations of child sexual abuse must be treated with urgency, while offenders must be held accountable in accordance with the law.
