President Bola Tinubu has approved the provision of four buses for youths in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to strengthen grassroots mobilisation ahead of the January 16, 2027 Area Council elections.
The Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, disclosed this during the Rainbow Coalition Stakeholders Rally and unveiling of FCT National Assembly candidates held at the Old Parade Ground in Abuja on Saturday.
Wike said the buses were approved to support youth mobilisation across the six area councils, noting that the President was committed to strengthening political participation among young people in the territory.
He also announced November 10 as the date for an interactive session with youths from the six area councils, adding that a separate engagement would be organised for persons living with disabilities.
The minister stressed that physical disability should not be seen as a limitation to contributing meaningfully to society.
At the event, Wike also disclosed that Tinubu had approved the procurement of brand-new Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) for traditional rulers in the FCT.
According to him, the vehicles would be delivered before December as part of efforts to recognise and strengthen traditional institutions in the territory.
He explained that the approval followed the recent upgrade of traditional stools, which had remained unchanged for 27 years.
The rally also witnessed the endorsement of President Tinubu for a second term in 2027, alongside Senator Philip Tanimu Aduda and other candidates seeking elective positions in the FCT.
Wike urged political stakeholders to intensify grassroots mobilisation, insisting that every party leader must take responsibility for delivering their polling units, wards and area councils during the forthcoming elections.
He warned supporters against claiming credit for electoral victories when they had failed to secure victory in their respective polling units.
