For the students of Igbere Secondary School in Bende Local Government Area, the school day started like any other. But by midday, their classrooms were filled with new backpacks, exercise books, and the undeniable hope that their community sees their potential.
Ahead of the 8th Leadership Excellence Awards (LEEX), the LEEX Humanitarian Outreach team, led by the Executive Director of Igbere TV, Emeh James Anyalekwa, visited the school on Thursday 5th November, to distribute hundreds of LEEX-branded school bags and educational materials.

The intervention, proudly sponsored by Champions Properties Ltd, was designed to remove the invisible barrier of lack that often keeps brilliant children from reaching their full academic potential.
Speaking on the initiative, the Chief Executive Officer of Champions Properties Ltd, Engr. Dr. Darlington Ugota, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to uplifting the less privileged.

“We believe that every child deserves the tools to dream. When we partnered with LEEX on this charity drive, this is exactly what we envisioned—seeing the smiles on the faces of these students. For us at Champions Properties, success is not just about building estates; it is about building lives and securing the future of our communities,” Ugota said.
“The joy we see in the faces of these students today is the true reward for us,” said Anyalekwa, who is also the National President of the Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (OMPAN). “We believe that a child cannot focus on the future when they are worried about tomorrow’s pencil. This is not just an awards ceremony; it is a platform for change. We are here to equip the next generation and ensure that no child is left behind.”

The students, visibly elated, held their new bags and notebooks aloft in a powerful display of gratitude, while the school management praised the LEEX team for backing its celebration of excellence with tangible, life-changing charity.
This outreach is a precursor to the grand 8th Leadership Excellence Awards ceremony, scheduled for Thursday, 12 November 2026, at the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Banquet Hall, Abuja.

It also reinforces the core mandate of the awards platform: that excellence must have a conscience. At the upcoming ceremony, a major percentage of net proceeds will be dedicated to LEEX’s expanding humanitarian projects, including building homes for the homeless and scaling up educational support across Nigeria.

For Igbere Secondary School, the visit was more than a photo opportunity. It was a reminder that true leadership does not just build stages in Abuja; it builds futures in the classrooms.
