A 13-year-old girl, Hasana Bulus, has died barely 24 hours after regaining her freedom from bandits who held her captive for seven months in Kaduna State.
Hasana was reportedly abducted from her home in Awon community, Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, on April 20, 2026.
She regained her freedom on November 2, 2026, after spending approximately seven months in captivity, and was subsequently taken to a hospital in Kachia for medical attention.
However, she reportedly died on November 3, just a day after her release.
Her death has renewed concerns over the persistent insecurity confronting communities in Kachia Local Government Area, where residents continue to face attacks, kidnappings and killings.
Several victims have reportedly lost their lives in captivity, while others have died shortly after regaining their freedom, raising fresh questions about the safety and welfare of released captives.
The circumstances surrounding Hasana’s death have not been independently established in the information available.
Her tragic death has also drawn attention to the plight of vulnerable residents, particularly women and children, who continue to bear the consequences of repeated bandit attacks.
