The African Democratic Congress (ADC) Senatorial Candidate for Enugu West in the 2027 general election, Juliet Ani, has warned OAU Onyema against parading himself as the party’s candidate, insisting that she remains the recognised candidate of the party.
Ani, in a statement, said she had seen the court judgment but maintained that there was no order directing the replacement of her name with that of Onyema.
She declared that even if she were to step down from the race, she would not do so in favour of a card-carrying member of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
Questioning Onyema’s legal knowledge, Ani stated that as a lawyer, he ought to know that anyone who participated in the primary election of one political party was no longer qualified to fly the flag of another political party.
She alleged that Onyema participated in the NDC primary election, lost and subsequently sought to contest under the ADC, describing the development as a violation of the Electoral Act.
Ani warned that any further attempt by Onyema to present himself as the party’s candidate would compel her to institute legal proceedings against him for impersonation.
“From now henceforth, any further impersonation, I have no other option than to sue you in court for impersonation. This is the last warning,” she stated.
Reaffirming her candidacy, Ani insisted that she remained the ADC candidate for Enugu West Senatorial District, adding that her name was still on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal for the 2027 election.
“Please be guided,” she concluded.
The statement was signed by Juliet Ani, ADC Enugu West Senatorial Candidate.
