In a major political development ahead of the November 8, 2025 Anambra governorship election, the Accord Party has formally announced its partnership with the All Progressives Congress (APC), pledging full support for the APC candidate, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu.
The revelation was made by the Deputy National Chairman of the Accord Party, Hon. Igborkwe Innocent Dike, during a strategic meeting involving the State Executive and Local Government Chairmen of the party, held at his Ogidi residence in Idemili North Local Government Area.
Speaking exclusively to Akelicious on the sidelines of the endorsement meeting, Hon. Igborkwe confirmed that the party has concluded all arrangements to mobilize massive votes for Ukachukwu on election day.
According to him, the collaboration signals total rejection of one Chidi Onyese, whom he described as “unknown” to the Accord Party.
Our people are happy that Ukachukwu emerged the APC candidate in April. We decided we are going to work in partnership with APC, and we’ve already started campaigning to deliver him in the November 8 election,” he stated.
Igborkwe emphasized that the partnership goes beyond endorsement and has evolved into a full strategic alliance.
We’re not just supporting Ukachukwu we’re partnering with him. Ukachukwu’s success is our success. If he wins, we have all won; if he loses, we have all lost. Our political ambitions will be realized if he becomes governor.”
He clarified that the collaboration does not imply a collapse of the Accord Party structure into the APC.
We are a full-fledged party capable of contesting elections. For this election, we are synergizing with APC, leaving no stone unturned to deliver Ukachukwu as the next governor. We are offering him the second platform.”
When asked why Accord Party chose Ukachukwu over the incumbent, Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Igborkwe was emphatic:
The power of incumbency is the power to deliver good governance. It only works if you are a performer and loved by the people. But it is not so in Anambra State. Our people are suffering under absolute dictatorship. There’s need for opposition because the people are not getting full democratic dividends.”
The party chieftain praised Ukachukwu’s track record, noting that his personal investments and humanitarian contributions make him the right choice for Anambra.
Ukachukwu is a man of integrity and principle. He has used his personal wealth to create jobs, alleviate poverty, and uplift the livelihoods of many. His governance will be based on Christian ethics and principles. That is what Anambra people are yearning for.”
He added that with support from both Accord Party and APC, Ukachukwu now has “two strong platforms” to secure widespread support from the electorate.
Igborkwe also criticized the current security situation in the state, alleging abuse of power by some state-backed vigilante groups.
He noted that the activities of certain outfits, including “Ndi Aka Odo,” violate citizens’ rights, prompting the need for leadership change.
We need someone who can restore sanity and govern with a human face. Ukachukwu is a democrat and God-fearing man. He is the alternative Anambra needs.”
With campaign activities intensifying across the state, the Accord Party’s endorsement is expected to further boost Ukachukwu’s prospects in what promises to be a fiercely contested election.
