Nollywood actor Godwin Nnadiekwe has taken to social media to share a disturbing incident that occurred on a film set recently. In a heartfelt post, the actor revealed that he sustained a painful chest injury after being kicked by a fellow actor during a scene — an action that was neither scripted nor directed.
“Just wanted to share an incident that happened on set a few days ago,” Nnadiekwe wrote. “This isn’t to call anyone out, but it’s a serious reminder that we need to prioritize each other’s safety on set.”
He explained that the unexpected blow left him in severe pain, forcing him to seek medication on his own without any assistance. He also highlighted a major concern in the industry: the lack of insurance policies and proper medical support on set.
“When we’re working without insurance policies or readily available first aid, unexpected physical actions like this — even if accidental — can have real consequences,” he noted. “Every action on set, particularly physical ones, needs to be intentional and within the director’s vision.”
The actor’s emotional plea stressed the need for professionalism and accountability on set, urging colleagues to always follow the script and ensure a safe environment for everyone.
“What if something more serious had happened? Or this went south?” he asked. “Let us all look out for each other and ensure our sets are always safe spaces where everyone feels secure and protected. Because our health and safety are paramount.”
He concluded with a call for peace, respect, and safety across the industry: “Our well-being should always come first. Peace!!!”
