Nollywood actress and activist, Iyabo Ojo, has finally responded to viral videos and mounting social media attacks accusing her of derailing justice for the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
In a heartfelt statement, Ojo revealed that she was recently invited by the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre in Abuja over petitions alleging cyberbullying linked to a past live video. In that video, she had called for certain individuals to present themselves for investigation regarding Mohbad’s controversial death.
Clarifying her intentions, the actress emphasized that at no point did she directly accuse anyone of being responsible for Mohbad’s death. Instead, she said her actions — including formal petitions through her Pinkies Foundation to several authorities and participation in stakeholder meetings — were solely aimed at ensuring a thorough, independent investigation.
“I was reacting emotionally to disturbing videos at the time. I only sought justice, not vendetta,” she explained.
Ojo expressed concern over ongoing threats to her life, citing a recent anonymous letter warning of danger, videos showing coffins with her name inscribed, and rising online attacks. She linked much of the hostility to her political views during the last election, which she said have made her a target for sponsored intimidation.
In a tone of resilience and faith, she reaffirmed her commitment to justice, expressing gratitude to supporters and pledging full cooperation with the authorities. She also appealed for empathy, noting that her office was recently destroyed by fire and she needs time to care for her health and wellbeing.
“I remain ready to honor any police invitation. I trust God for victory over adversity,” she concluded.
