To avoid the repeat of the massive killings going on in Plateau and Benue states and ensure a peaceful celebration of Easter, the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 3 Yola, AIG Auwal Mohammed Musa, has tightened security in Adamawa and Taraba states with heavily armed officers deployed around the two states.
In a statement on Sunday, the Zone 3 police spokesman, Yusuf Mohammed, stated that the AIG took the decision to avoid enemies taking him unaware.
“As part of proactive measures to ensure a hitch-free celebration, the AIG has directed Commissioners of Police in the two states under the Zone’s Area of Responsibility (AOR) to strengthen security with intensified patrols, visibility policing, and strategic deployments.” he said.
The AIG directed all security personnel to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, impartiality, and vigilance.
He urged residents of the two states to remain security conscious, law-abiding, and cooperate with security agencies to prevent any breach of peace.
The AIG reaffirmed the zone’s commitment to efficiency, transparency, and public trust in policing across the two states and Nigeria at large.
Musa, who extended his Easter greetings to all Nigerians, particularly residents of Adamawa and Taraba states, pointed out that security is the duty of everyone in the society.
