Following the Kaduna Police Command’s recent decision to suspend the use of public places or hotels for political gatherings without prior police notice, some members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna State, has approached the Federal High Court in Kaduna.

The Applicant are seeking an interlocutory injunction to restrain the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Kaduna State Police Commissioner from interfering with political gatherings.

After filing the application, Yusuf Shehu Bello, accompanied by his counsel, Barrister Farook Dikko, spoke to newsmen at the Federal High Court in Kaduna. He explained that the court intervention aims to declare that the police lack the power to suspend or interfere with gatherings and to compel the police to provide adequate security for political gatherings.
