ADC Raises Alarm Over Alleged INEC Move Amid Calls for Chairman’s Resignation

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has raised concerns over reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Joash Amupitan, is planning to update the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) details on the INEC portal.

According to critics cited in the report, the alleged move is being interpreted as a diversion from growing calls for the Chairman’s resignation, with some accusing him of political bias. These claims, however, remain unverified and have sparked debate over the neutrality of the electoral body.

The ADC warned that any action perceived as politically motivated or improperly timed could further weaken public trust in the electoral system, stressing the need for transparency, neutrality, and strict adherence to the law by INEC.

The party also emphasized that the current situation demands institutional integrity and openness, urging the commission to avoid steps that could be seen as managing public perception rather than addressing key concerns raised by Nigerians.

Reaffirming its stance, the ADC noted its growing national presence and called on its members to remain lawful, focused, and committed to democratic principles, while urging all stakeholders to protect the credibility of Nigeria’s electoral process.
