Through her platform, My Sister’s Initiative, Adefuwa hosted an impactful event at the Irele Civic Center, gathering teenage girls from secondary schools across the local government area for a day of education, empowerment, and support.

Facilitators at the event led interactive sessions on the importance of menstrual hygiene, understanding the menstrual cycle, and challenging the cultural taboos that often surround menstruation. The girls were also taught how to make reusable sanitary towels—a practical, sustainable solution designed to combat menstrual poverty.

In addition to these empowering sessions, all participants received free sanitary pads, ensuring immediate access to essential products. Taking the intervention further, Adefuwa announced the establishment of Pad Banks in all the invited schools. These pad banks will serve as reliable sources of sanitary products for students who find themselves in emergency situations, ensuring that no girl has to miss school due to lack of menstrual products.

Speaking at the event, Yetunde Adefuwa emphasized the importance of education and access. “This is more than an event—it’s a movement. We’re equipping young girls not just with products, but with knowledge, confidence, and dignity,” she said.

The initiative has received widespread praise for addressing a critical issue with practical solutions and compassion, reinforcing the Aiyedatiwa administration’s commitment to youth empowerment and gender equity in Ondo State.
