Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has approved the reinstatement of three public officials whose suspensions were recently lifted by the State House of Assembly.
The affected officials are:
- Mr. Maxwell Ogiri – Executive Chairman, Otukpo Local Government Area
- Mrs. Grace Adagba – Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB)
- Mr. Michael Uper – Executive Secretary, Benue State Lottery Commission
The trio were suspended following a House resolution that Governor Alia upheld on August 20, 2025. However, during plenary on August 25, the Assembly, under its new Speaker, Rt. Hon. Alfred Emberga, passed another resolution reversing the decision.
In compliance, the Governor has directed the immediate reinstatement of the officials, reaffirming his respect for the constitutional role of the legislature.
Alia also called on the reinstated officers to rededicate themselves to duty, embrace accountability, and diligently serve the interests of the people.
He further assured the people of Benue State of his administration’s commitment to transparency, good governance, and peaceful collaboration among all arms of government.
