A businessman, Augustine Oguejiofor, popularly known as “Onwa Enugu,” has reportedly made a ₦200 million down payment to a complainant, Ifeanyi Udezu, following allegations that he defrauded him of ₦650 million in a land transaction since 2023.

According to details that emerged from the settlement process, Oguejiofor had allegedly collected the money from Udezu over a land deal that later became the subject of dispute.

After being detained for two days by the police, the accused reportedly agreed to refund the money with an additional ₦150 million interest, bringing the total repayment agreement to ₦800 million.

As part of the arrangement, Oguejiofor has already paid ₦200 million, while agreeing to pay the remaining ₦600 million within two weeks.

To demonstrate commitment to the agreement, he also presented a post-dated cheque of ₦600 million and deposited several vehicles valued at about ₦800 million as collateral.

Under the terms of the agreement, the vehicles may be auctioned if he fails to complete the repayment within the stipulated timeframe.

The complainant expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Oladimeji Disu, for the intervention that led to the resolution process, describing it as a step toward ensuring justice and accountability regardless of social status.
