Anambra CP Orders Holistic Probe Into Viral Video Alleging Police Misconduct in Onitsha

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Ikioye Orutugu, has ordered a comprehensive investigation into a viral complaint video alleging unprofessional conduct by police officers in Onitsha.

The police boss said the Command’s response to the incident would be holistic and thorough, stressing that both the officers directly involved and their supervising officers would be investigated.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command, Tochukwu Ikenga, the Commissioner of Police emphasized that supervisors under whose watch the alleged misconduct occurred would also be queried as part of efforts to enforce accountability within the Force.

Orutugu noted that the Command remains committed to maintaining discipline and professionalism among its personnel, adding that any officer found culpable would face appropriate sanctions in line with the regulations of the Nigeria Police Force.

He further reassured residents that the Command will not tolerate any form of unprofessional behavior and will continue to uphold transparency while protecting the rights of citizens.

The police also urged members of the public to remain law-abiding and continue to cooperate with security agencies in maintaining peace and order across the state.
