
Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have arraigned two suspects over the alleged murder of their employer and theft of his funds in Onitsha.
The suspects, identified as Chiemerie Anieke, 21, and Godwin Nnabuike Nwokporo, 21, were arraigned on March 18, 2026, by operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
According to police authorities, the prime suspect, Anieke, allegedly killed his employer, Ikechukwu Simon Nwite, by striking him on the head with a pestle. He was also linked to a separate attack on one Ogechukwu Nwite in the Fegge area of Onitsha.
Investigations further revealed that the second suspect, Nwokporo, allegedly assisted in the crime by providing a bank account through which over ₦8 million belonging to the deceased was fraudulently transferred.
Police operatives recovered ₦6 million from the suspects, believed to be part of the stolen funds. The money has been presented as evidence in court.
Both suspects were arraigned before the High Court in Onitsha and have been remanded in a correctional facility pending further proceedings.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, reiterated the command’s commitment to justice, warning that criminal activities will not go unpunished.
