Former Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, has taken a swipe at key political figures, insisting that opposition to President Bola Tinubu is often driven by selfish motives rather than national interest.

Speaking on recent political debates, Mimiko stated that former Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, was not opposing Tinubu for the good of Nigeria but out of personal stubbornness and loss of favour.

He also criticized Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, describing him as “a well-known liar” who allegedly made false claims about building schools in Anambra, which teachers dismissed with laughter. Mimiko further accused Obi of failing to pay salaries as governor, contrasting him with Tinubu, who pioneered the payment of 13th-month salaries to workers as Governor of Lagos State.

Turning to other opposition figures, Mimiko berated former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, for “starting official payments to terrorists,” and faulted former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for openly declaring that he needed only $10 billion to develop Nigeria through the sale of national assets. He also mocked Senator Dino Melaye for what he described as reckless spending on exotic cars.

“These are the clowns that want to compete with an astute administrator like Bola Tinubu?” Mimiko quipped.
