Popular online activist and social commentator, VeryDarkMan, has released a passionate video message addressing the recent Yelewata massacre in Benue State, urging Benue youths to rise, organize, and defend their communities against continued violence.
Reacting to a widely circulated video showing thousands of Benue youths protesting after the brutal attack, VeryDarkMan said he was both heartbroken and encouraged by the growing awareness and unity among young people in the state.
“This whole Benue killing did not start today,” he began in the video. “I’ve been hearing about this since I was a boy. And till this day, nothing seems to be changing. More and more people are losing their families to this insurgency.”
He acknowledged that although high-ranking military officials have visited the Yelewata area and the President of Nigeria is expected to visit soon, such gestures have historically yielded little real change.
With visible frustration and urgency, he called on the youth to go beyond protests and take practical, lawful steps to protect their communities:
“Benue youths, you have the numbers. Use your numbers. Every household should get a licensed gun. Welders should start making tools. You must strategically plan to defend that land. The police and army cannot do it alone.”
He stressed that this is not a call for lawlessness but a plea for structured self-defense in coordination with official security forces:
“We will join hands with the police and army to cleanse Nigeria of this destruction. We are the wiser generation. We have the technology. We will not be like our fathers. We will not fold our arms and watch.”
This comes just days after a complete list of those killed in the Yelewata massacre was shared online, revealing the names of over 130 victims across dozens of families.
