A governorship aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Otunba Emmanuel Fayose, has faulted the decision of the federal government to approve about N10 billion for the solar power project for the presidential villa.
Fayose, who disclosed this in Ado Ekiti on Friday, said the government’s decision “is a glaring display of insensitivity and misplaced priorities, especially given the nation’s ongoing electricity challenges.”
He said, “While millions of Nigerians endure daily blackouts and businesses collapse due to unreliable power supply, the presidency is investing N10 billion to ensure uninterrupted electricity for itself.
This action reflects a leadership that is increasingly disconnected from the struggles of ordinary citizens.”
Fayose recalled President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s campaign promise to revitalise Nigeria’s power sector within his first year in office.
It’s been over two years, and the national grid remains as unstable as ever. Instead of fulfilling his promise, the president is now isolating himself from the very system he vowed to fix,” he added.
