Bandits have reportedly issued a ₦60 million ransom demand from the residents of Tashar Kaɗanya, a village in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, threatening to launch an attack if the money is not paid.

Security analyst @DanKatsina50 shared the news on his X account on Monday, revealing that the bandits have set a deadline for the ransom payment, causing many villagers to flee in fear for their lives.

While no official statement has been issued by security authorities, the incident underscores the ongoing security crisis in Katsina State, where banditry, including kidnappings for ransom, continues to destabilize communities despite government efforts to curb the violence.

Kankara LGA, in particular, has been a frequent target of bandit attacks, and this latest demand could further aggravate the already strained security and humanitarian situation in the area.
