The Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS) has reiterated its divine leadership framework and responded to concerns about internal conflicts and corporate trusteeship during a recent press conference at its headquarters on 34 Ambo Street, Calabar, Cross River State.
Addressing Pressmen, Senator B. W. Degi, Secretary of General Affairs of the BCS, described the recent tensions within the religious group as a “family matter” fueled largely by personal interests and material ambitions.
“Despite the baseless contentions against the leadership position of His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu by the breakaway group, His Kingship and Leadership remain incontrovertible.
“These divisions are not so abnormal, but they are not acceptable to us,” Degi said. “The struggle is driven by business interests, not spirituality. The spiritual leadership of the Brotherhood remains constant and divine—man cannot change it, not even the law.”
Degi minimized the impact of what he referred to as the “so-called breakaway” faction, declaring them a “minority” within the global BCS community.
The rebellious activities of few members and blasphemy on social media space will not and can not affect the faith of the elects nor diminish the impact and harvest from evangelism and exponential expansion of BCS to all nooks and crannies of the world in fulfilment of the scriptures.
You can attest to the fact that their foundation is shaking,” he told a cross-section of journalists in Calabar, challenging claims of legitimacy by asking, “Have you ever seen them organize something that attracts the attention of the world?”
He acknowledged ongoing legal issues surrounding trusteeship and organizational identity but clarified that these should not be conflated with spiritual authority.
“Nevertheless, as much as we do not intend to join issues with the breakaway group, it has become compelling for us to put the records straight and to correct the malicious and contemptuous remarks made on the divine Holy personality and image of His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu, The King of kings and Lord of lords, the Leader of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star.
“The Leader of BCS remains His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu, The King of kings and Lord of lords who was publicly anointed and crowned as the King of kings and Lord of lords 24 solid years ago by His Father, The Almighty Supreme Leader Olumba Olumba Obu to lead BCS. He is the Chairman of BCS Board of Trustees and Head of Administration, BCS Worldwide.
