The construction of the new Obudu International Airport in Northern Cross River State has received a boost as the five host communities where the project is to be sited have declared their support for the project.
The communities are Atiekpe, Ikwuomkwu, Igwo, Okamibi, and Abonkib. They made the declaration during their separate presentations at an interactive session with Governor Ben Ayade at the project site.
Led by their clan heads, the communities explained that in view of the enormous economic spinoffs that will be derived from the construction of the airport, they freely donated their land to the state government.
Governor Ayade assured that in no distant future, the airport will be completed and operational as the Federal Government has already given the necessary approvals.
The state government, according to the Governor, has so far paid 500 million Naira as compensation to the communities that donated their land for the airport project.
