The General Manager of the Enugu State Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA), Monday Diamond Ani, has clarified that borehole drilling projects are separate from the Enugu State Government’s capital water supply projects being executed under Governor Peter Mbah.
Ani was reacting to some false claims on the social media by few individuals, purposefully to bamboozle innocent minds and discredit the excellent administration of Gov Peter Mbah.
Speaking on the ongoing water interventions across the state, Ani explained that under Governor Mbah, the Enugu State Government has made heavy investments in large-scale capital water projects aimed at restoring and expanding reticulated water supply across the Enugu metropolis and other urban centres.
He noted that although water has not yet been reticulated to every household, a growing number of communities are now enjoying steady access to portable water, and the long-standing problem of water scarcity in Enugu city is gradually being addressed.
Ani further explained that borehole provision falls under community-based water interventions implemented through Community and Social Development programmes, which are designed to support underserved and rural communities with basic water infrastructure.
He stressed that the two interventions are complementary but fundamentally different, adding that while the state government is driving capital-intensive urban water projects, the CSDA supports smaller, community-driven borehole schemes.
According to him, Governor Mbah deserves commendation for investing in both capital water infrastructure and community-level water projects, despite the huge financial and technical demands associated with the sector.
